Rural broadband pilot

"Rugged and remote landscapes won't support fibre deployments. Our solutions aid in connecting people, places, and things where it is not practical to deploy fibre technology," added Himanshu Motial, VP, Sales, APAC, Cambium. The company is doing a rural broadband pilot project with RailTel For 3,800 Villages In Madhya Pradesh and counts corporates such as Jindal, Essar, ONGC, IndianOil, Hindalco as some of its clients.

Demand for broadband is heating up in India, with 4G and other kinds of technologies coming in. Recently, the $1.4-billion US-based ViaSat Inc approached the Centre for permission to provide high speed internet broadband to homes using satellite and is talking to the government for changing the open sky regulations, which it believes could connect millions to broadband internet.
