Wipro has reiterated its commitment to open source by joining hands with the Linux Foundation.
The foundation supports associated open source projects such as Open Network Automation Platform, Hyperledger, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Cloud Foundry Foundation and Automotive Grade Linux, among others.
Recently, Wipro announced collaboration with Hyperledger to provide blockchain solutions for enterprises. Hyperledger is an open source collaborative that has been created to improve cross-industry blockchain technologies across sectors such as finance, banking Internet of Things, supply chain, manufacturing and technology.
Wipro has identified open source technologies as one of its strategic areas as it sees enterprises looking to foray into new areas such as cognitive computing, blockchain, hyper automation, cloud and analytics.
Further, Wipro is authorising its internal teams to crowdsource and use the topcoder communities potential skills to provide new services, faster delivery and at a global scale.
In a related development, Wipro also said that it has joined Automotive Grade Linux (AGL). AGL is a collaborative open source project that is bringing together automakers, suppliers and technology companies to accelerate the development and adoption of a fully-open software stack for connected vehicle services.
With Linux at its core, AGL is developing an open platform that can serve as the de facto industry standard to enable rapid development of new features and technologies for the automotive segment.
