National Stock Exchange’s SME platform Emerge aims to list 20 companies by the end of this financial year. Ravi Varanasi, Chief Business Development of the NSE told reporters here on Saturday.
“In the current year, the idea is to reach out to 20 companies to get listed on the SME platform. We may have at least a dozen companies from the eastern region. Currently, there are five companies listed on the SME platform and none are from the east,” Varansi said.
The average issue size has been ₹15-25 crore. The existing five companies have raised a total of ₹87 crore.
The official said there are several small companies that have reached the DRHP stage. “The process is long. Many such private SMEs are partnerships and they need to be registered as limited liability companies. It takes time for them to really get there (the listing stage),” he added.
NSE was attempting to identify and tap credible private companies. In the east, NSE was talking to some firms to bring them into the public fold, the official said.
