A total of 8.13 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 5 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 42,000 kg more than last week’s offer but it continues to be the second least volume in over a year now. Of this, 8.13 lakh kg, 5.48 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 2.65 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 7.03 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only1.10 lakh kg, orthodox variety.
Pekoe Dust of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped Dust auctions and the entire CTC market last week when Oswal Tea Traders bought it for ₹222/kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Leaf auctions at ₹219.
