Silver prices went up by 0.49 per cent to Rs 38,510 per kg at the futures trade as participants built up fresh positions owing to positive cues from overseas markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May shot up Rs 188 or 0.49 per cent to Rs 38,510 per kg in a business turnover of 752 lots. Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month July gained Rs 151 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 39,040 per kg in 25 lots.
Traders attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firm trend overseas. Globally, silver rose 0.43 per cent to $16.42 an ounce in Singapore.
