Asian shares were trading in a mixed range on Tuesday on worries about the euro zone debt crisis and taking cues from overnight losses in the Wall Street. Portugal is widely seen by investors as next in line in the euro zone to seek a bailout after Greece and Ireland.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 13.33 points or 0.13 per cent at 10,527.71. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 174.03 points or 0.74 per cent to 23,701.29. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 9.63 points or 0.3 per cent at 3,238.90. South Korea’s Kospi was down 1.59 points or 0.08 per cent at 2,079.22.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 was down 2.7 points or 0.06 per cent at 4,709.60. China’s Shanghai Composite fell 9 points or 0.32 per cent to 2,782.81. Taiwan’s Taiex jumped 94.82 points or 1.08 per cent to 8,912.70.
