ICICI Bank was leading the pack in late trading on the NSE as well. At 3.20 p.m. ICICI Bank was trading at Rs 1,079, up 3.35 per cent on its previous close of Rs 1,044.
Tata Motors retreated from its morning highs to quote at Rs 384.65, up 2.60 per cent on Monday's close of Rs 374.90.
JP Associates held steady to quote at Rs 48.50, up 2.43 per cent on yesterday’s close of Rs 47.35.
Tata Steel made gains of 2.30 per cent to trade at Rs 383.15 as against Rs 374.55 at close on Monday.
Axis Bank was the other private sector bank in the limelight. It held gains of 2.10 per cent at Rs 1,187.60 as against its overnight close of Rs 1,163.20.
