ICICI Bank continued to trade on a firm note to emerge the top gainer in late trading on the BSE. At 3 p.m. it was trading up 2.96 per cent at Rs 1,075 against its overnight close of Rs 1,044.10.
Tata Motors was firm but off its morning levels in the afternoon session. It was trading at Rs 384.50, up 2.64 per cent on its previous close of Rs 374.60.
Sesa Sterlite edged up a shade to trade at Rs 209.75 against the previous close of Rs 205.50, a gain of 2.07 per cent.
Joining ICICI Bank among the top gainers was Axis Bank, another private sector bank. It held gains of 2.05 per cent to trade at Rs 1,185.40 as against its overnight close of Rs 1,161.55.
Tata Steel shed some of its morning gains to quote at Rs 380.75, up 1.60 per cent on Monday's close of Rs 374.75.
