Vedanta made rapid strides to emerge the top gainer on the bourses in late session on Tuesday. At 3.10 pm it was the top gainer on the NSE as well, trading at Rs 226.65, up 6.71 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 212.40.
Kotak Mahindra Bank extended its morning gains to trade at Rs 1,423.50. This was a gain of 6.33 per cent on its Monday close at Rs 1,338.80. The bank recorded a 29 per cent jump in net profit in the fourth quarter ended March 30, 2015.
Hindalco Industries spiked up 5.14 per cent to quote at Rs 140. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 133.15.
Tata Steel advanced further to notch up gains of 5.03 per cent at Rs 379.85 as against Rs 361.65 at close overnight.
ONGC edged up to quote at Rs 341.50 as against Rs 328.35 at close on Monday. This represented a gain of 4 per cent.
