The board of NMDC will meet on Tuesday to consider a proposal for buyback of equity shares. Though the Centre is likely to benefit the most from the move, shareholders will closely monitor the offer size, price and mode — whether it is through the tender route on proportionate basis or from the open market. Given the buybacks done by the PSUs earlier, NMDC’s buyback will also be on tender basis. In that case, the record date will be another crucial factor for shareholders.
