Bengaluru-based Zerodha, an online brokerage firm, launched its trading portal Kite in Tamil to promote trading in tier II and III cities in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing media persons at the launch, Karthik Rangappa, Vice-President, Equity Research, said that while trading in metro cities are growing, language is a huge barrier in tier II and tier III cities as the people prefer trading in regional languages over English. The company earlier launched the online platform in Kannada, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi and Marathi.
Rangappa said login in regional portals account for about 30 per cent of the total logins. In Tamil Nadu, the company has two branches – Chennai and Salem –and support centres in Coimbatore, Ooty, Erode, Dharmapuri, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Hosur and Ambur.
