The second generation reforms in the banking sector will happen after broad political consensus, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Minister of State for Planning, Science and Technology, said at a Citi Investor conference today.
“We hope to get fiscal deficit down to 5.1 per cent from 5.9 per cent this fiscal,” the Minister said.
He added that important Bills and policy decisions will be taken with political mandate post presidential elections in July this year.
On the inflation front, commodity prices have stabilised although oil prices still remain a matter of concern, he said.
