Former Vice President Joe Biden won five of 14 States on Super Tuesday, building his momentum after a resounding victory in South Carolina.
Hi! I am Nivedita Varadarajan and welcome to the special episode on the Super Tuesday election.
Tom Styer, Mayor Pete and Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race. Biden has also secured endorsements from many top democratic party officials. He has also received the endorsements from Mayor Pete, Amy and Beto O’Rourke right before the elections on Tuesday.
Now, he has become face of the moderate democrats in this election.
Biden won in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Virginia and Texas. He is currently slightly ahead of competitor Bernie Sanders in Maine.
Biden is forecast to win at least 317 delegates, with Sanders getting at least 238, Elizabeth Warren 27, Michael Bloomberg 12, and Tulsi Gabbard one.
This gives Biden a lead, with the total delegate count of 453. Sanders has 382.
These wins give Biden's campaign a jolt of energy that he desperately needs.
