Principal dancers of The Royal Russian Ballet’s Swan Lake performed at JamshedBhaha Theatre in NCPA, Mumbai, on Tuesday. SwanLake is a ballet more than a century old and is performed on the classical compositions written by the Russian composer PyotrIlyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet’s central theme, taken from Russian folk tales, is about Odette, a princess who turned into a swan by a sorcerer’s curse, and how she redeemed herself with the power of love.
The ballet promises to be a powerhouse of music, dance and drama. As a part of the month-long tour, which concludes on April 14, there are 25 shows of the ballet scheduled to be performed in Mumbai, followed by five shows each in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. - Photos: PAUL NORONHA
