Leading ayurvedic group Dhathri is to open ayurveda speciality clinics, branded retail outlets and a neutraceutical plant as part of its expansion plans.

Dr S. Sajikumar, managing director, said the group intends to open 100 ayurveda speciality clinics in the first year in various parts of the country. The clinics will be opened in various disciplines such as geriatrics, paediatrics, women care, skin care, mental health and lifestyle diseases.

These clinics will be both company owned as well as in franchise mode. In the franchise mode, the company will provide the service of the doctor, while the infrastructure has to be provided by the franchisee, he said.

Speaking to a group of visiting media persons from Kochi, Dr Sajikumar said in Muvattupuzha that there had been overwhelming response to ABS (ayurveda, beauty and slimming) clinics, especially in metros.

The ABS clinics that bring ayurveda, beauty and slimming solutions under one roof had a turnover of Rs 14.5 crore last year, he said.

The group last year clocked a turnover of Rs 100 crore, he said, adding that this collective achievement has been made from FMCG services, classical and patent division. The company is also targeting a sales turnover of Rs 200 crore in the current fiscal, taking into account the 62 per cent growth achieved last year.

Considering the growing demand for neutraceuticals both in the domestic and export markets, he said, a neutraceutical plant will be set up at Nellad in Muvattupuzha, near the existing manufacturing unit, within the next two years. The company will invest Rs 15 crore for the plant, which will have advanced research facilities. Plans are also afoot to set up an extraction unit with an investment of Rs 6 crore for internal use and sales.

He pointed out that the sale of ayurvedic products in certain overseas markets is restricted and this can be replaced with neutraceutical products. At present 20 per cent of the turnover is garnered from exports, he said, adding that there are also plans to launch an ayurvedic food supplement this year.

Referring to FMCG products, he said the division registered a turnover of Rs 80 crore last year. Currently there are 28 FMCG products in the market and more products are on the anvil.

Besides, Dhathri has 21 classical and patent products, which will be increased to 100 by this year. Dhathri has signed an MoU with Care Keralam for this, he said.
