In its bid to get closer to customers and offer faster delivery of large appliances and furniture, Amazon India has doubled its storage space and delivery station network.

The firm has added six new fulfilment centres in Coimbatore, Pune, Lucknow, Gurugram, Mumbai and Bhopal. With this addition, the company now has a network of 15 fulfilment centres spread over 1.3 million sq feet with five million cubic feet of storage space, and 25 additional delivery stations exclusively for fulfilment of large appliances and furniture.

The company has expanded its existing storage capacity in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana and Ahmedabad.

With a total of 62 fulfilment centres across 13 States and a storage capacity of 18.5 million cubic feet, the company has the largest fulfilment infrastructure in the industry, Akhil Saxena, Vice-President, India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon, said in a press release.
