Nambi Rajan, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary, The Hindu Group Publishing Pvt Ltd, has once again made it to the Roll of Honour 2019 of the CFO100 awards, which annually recognizes the top 100 senior finance professionals in the country, and was facilitated with an award for the same on Friday.

In its ninth year now, CFO India, through a stringent process of evaluation by a distinguished jury of peers and subject matter experts, has arrived at a new list of CFOs for this year. Nambi Rajan has been honoured under the category of Corporate Tax Management for the successful implementation of systems and procedures for goods and services tax (GST) compliance-which was introduced for the first time in print media, with a tax on both input and output- in 45 days.

“Efforts were taken internally to ensure that all the procedures required for compliance under the GST, including system changes, training people-both finance and cross-function- were done. I would like to acknowledge two things, the confidence placed on me by the management to go ahead without engaging experts or consultants for this, and two, the support given by my team, as well as the cross-function team, in ensuring that the entire process came on live on July 1, 2017, the deadline for the implementation for the GST,” said Rajan.

On the occasion, Rajan was felicitated by Andreas Bauer, who is the Senior Resident Representative- India, Nepal, Bhutan, International Monetary Fund (IMF). He had been recognized under the mergers and acquisition category last year for the same roll of honour. The CFO100 Programme annually recognizes the top 100 senior finance professionals in India who have made a difference with their acumen, attitude and leadership.

Rajan has a work experience of over 25 years and is also fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, associated member of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants and Institute of Company Secretaries of India
