The Border Security Force on Thursday seized fake Indian currency notes worth of Rs 9 lakh from Kaliachak in Malda district of West Bengal.

Malda is known to have one of the most porous borders between India and Bangladesh.

Around 600 counterfeit notes carrying denomination of Rs 1,000 and another lot of 600 notes bearing Rs 500 denominations were impounded, the BSF said in a release.

The counterfeit notes were found in a plastic bag and are suspected to have been thrown over the border fence by smugglers.
