Contango Training & Research Academy (CTRA), promoted by an entrepreneur T Murrugappan who has about two decades of experience in commodity markets, will offer a range of education and training services in financial markets covering various asset classes.
While online space offers a lot of material for investor education, Contango sees a huge vacuum in offline space where not many organisations offer a comprehensive training on various aspects of investing in the market. Chennai-headquartered CTRA, which was formally inaugurated on Thursday by SK Mohanty, Executive Director, SEBI, plans to offer basic, advanced and professional training to existing, fresh and potential investors and market participants as also to aspiring young professionals. There will be six programmes, including basic day-long programmes in financial markets and derivatives, and two-month advanced programme in equities, commodities and currency markets.
Contango will also offer a certified professional course in financial markets with a promise of job guarantee. “We are planning to create comprehensive educational facilities in all the southern states and setting up about 30 training centres (direct and through channel partners) throughout the country in a phased manner,” said Murrugappan, who is also the CEO of CTRA. Mohanty said SEBI has programmes to introduce financial markets in CBSE school syllabus.
