Innovate for nation’s growth, students told

The Hindu in School Science Festival, which was conducted in Mangaluru on Wednesday, received good response with more than 120 teams participating in the event.

Lauding the efforts of the students for their unique projects on display, P Jayarama Bhat, Chairman of Karnataka Bank Ltd, said the mindset to innovate at young age is good. The nation will grow faster if students focus on innovating something for the nation’s development. Bhat, who spoke at the valedictory of the event, also urged the students focus on cost-effective ideas.

Dikshith Rai, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Codecraft Technologies Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru, who was the chief guest at the inaugural programme, said students should focus on improvising their ideas. Stating that nobody creates the best thing in the very first attempt, he said students should not lose heart if there is some shortfall in their projects.

MR Ravi, Chief Executive Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, another chief guest at the inaugural programme, asked the students to focus on problems around them. This will help society. The young students of today are oriented towards science and scientific temperament, he added.

Ananth Prabhu, director of the Vikas Edu Solutions, delivered a special motivational lecture for the participating students on the occasion. HP Rahul and Adithya S Bhat of Class 9 of the Sri Vyasa Maharishi School, Mulki, Dakshina Kannada, won the first prize on the occasion.

Mithil MK and Sarvamangala of Canara High School, Mannagudda, Mangaluru, won the second prize. Abhay Kumar and Deeekshay Shetty of Green Valley School, Shiroor, Udupi, won the third prize. Five other teams from different schools won consolation prizes.

Vikas Pre-University College, Mangaluru, was the title sponsor of the event. The Centre for Advanced Learning, Manga-luru, Campco Ltd, KIOCL Ltd, and the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd were the associate sponsors. Taj Cycle Company was the bicycle partner.
