The Mahatma Gandhi University has decided to discontinue the functioning of all off-campus centres working within the territorial jurisdiction or outside without the sanction of the government.
Governor’s fiat
The university took the decision on Saturday after Governor P Sathasivam ordered that appropriate steps be taken by the university to ensure that functioning of these off-campus centres are discontinued forthwith.
A university official said it would make arrangements for the students who have already joined these centres to continue and complete their studies.
In limelight
The university has more than 50 off-campus centres. Functioning of university off-campus centres came into limelight in May this year after a top police official was caught cheating during LL M examination conducted by the university.
Inspector General of Police TJ Jose was allegedly caught copying at the examination conducted by university under its off-campus scheme.
