A team of five students of Toc H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) won the first prize in the national energy audit competition for engineering colleges, held for creating awareness on energy conservation.

Organised by the Kerala Energy Conservation Society, Thrissur, as part of a three-day 2nd National Energy Congress (ENCON), the competition is aimed at creating awareness among consumers on the urgency for energy conservation at all levels and finding ways to tide over growing power shortage at the national level.

The TIST team, comprising final year students of Electrical and Electronics department, won the award by preparing the consumption pattern for their own institution.

Dhanu Kishor, Feba Alias, Neethu V Raju, Sharanya.S and Shilpa Susan Varghese were the members of the team.

Speaking on the occasion, the State Water Resource Minister P.J. Joseph stressed the need for conserving energy at all levels in the face of acute energy shortage being faced by Kerala.

The situation was not different at the national level as well, he added.
