The National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSE) has signed a Statement of Interest (SoI) with NITI Aayog to improve the quality of life of citizens by providing safe drinking water and sanitation, education and elder care in three aspirational districts of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, Karauli in Rajasthan and Nandurbar in Maharashtra.
The NSE Foundation is currently working in these three aspirational districts.

Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, said, “The Aspirational Districts Programme aims to align on-ground stakeholders and administrative structures towards improvement of crucial indicators of human and social development. Health, nutrition and education constitute a core component of the programme, which will help leverage our demographic dividend as we move towards a new India.”
Rema Mohan, CEO, NSE Foundation, said, “NSEF has identified three primary focus areas – primary education, elder care and WASH (sanitation and safe drinking water) and supports more than 35 projects across the country. NSEF aspires to help the underprivileged sections of society by improving their quality of life and reaching out to them.”
Strategic action plan
The focus of the initiative is to improve the performance of public programmes in these districts and improve the quality of life of citizens. NITI Aayog and NSEF will collaborate for a strategic action plan and spearhead scoping studies and formative researches for innovative solutions in the identified sectors. The aim is to demonstrate innovation in education, WASH and elder care.
“NSE Foundation recognises that economic well-being of the nation is linked with the social well-being of the community and hence the focus on improving the quality of life of its identified beneficiaries towards creating inclusive societies, while meeting its social, economic and environmental responsibilities,” a release said.
