Rattan Lal Hangloo, Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University, West Bengal, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Allahabad University, the fourth oldest university in the country established in 1887.
Hangloo, who is a professor in the Department of History, University of Hyderabad here, has been serving as Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University since 2013. ``At the University of Kalyani, Rattan Lal Hangloo has been trying to boost scientific education among the underprivileged people of the region, especially in the socially and economically weakened districts of Naida and Murshidabad,’’ said a release.
A specialist in Indian and Central Asian history, politics, international affairs and culture, Hangloo has authored 10 books and published over 100 research papers on various aspects in national and international journals.
He was recently awarded the Dewang Mehta Business School Award in recognition of his leadership, innovation and industry interface, among others. He is also a member of the election analysis team of Harvard University.
