Tata Realty has renewed the Srinivasa Ramanujan Chair, which provides financial support for research, at Sastra University.
The research Chair provides financial assistance to undertake Ph D work, host international visiting scholars, organise conferences and seminars and create infrastructure, according to a press release.
V Ramaswamy, Research Chair Professor, said in the release that the renewal of the Chair by Tata Realty will help in furthering contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan in the area of Number Theory & Discrete Mathematics. C Velan, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ramanujan IT City, and Regional Head, Tata Realty & Infrastructure Ltd, said the research Chair will encourage more students to participate in research.
S Vaidhyasubramaniam, Dean – Planning & Development, Sastra University, said the first research Chair by Department of Science & Technology between 2004–2009 resulted in four Ph D and 20 publications in reputed international journals.
