The work on ICT-enabled classrooms in State board schools from Class 9 to 12 will start in mid-November, said KA Sengottaiyan, Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education. An investment of around ₹450 crore is allocated for the project.
Speaking at the Tamil Nadu Principals’ Meet organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Sengottaiyan said the State would float the tender next week and the work on the classrooms will begin after November 15. In addition, the work on 3,000 smart classrooms at an investment of ₹2 lakh each will begin by November.
Training for civil services examinations across district headquarters is also under works and will be launched by first week of November, he added.
Around 500 centres that will equip students to face the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be operational by October end.
