The Centre will hold a meeting of chief ministers of seven Naxal-affected States today to chalk out a strategy to fight the menace. The meeting, chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, will discuss left-wing extremism in the 35 worst-affected districts in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley will today open the World Economic Forum India summit in New Delhi today. The event is likely to be attended by top policymakers and several corporate leaders, among others. The theme of the meet is ‘Delivering Growth in the New Context’.

The CBI’s appeal against the Delhi High Court order quashing charges against Prakash Industries and its director in a coal block allocation case will come up before the Supreme Court today. In September 2014, the HC had quashed charges of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy framed by the trial court against the firm and its director.

Samsung India is expected to launch the Galaxy On7 and Galaxy On5 in New Delhi today. The On series, which offers a music-oriented rich user experience, was launched in China last week. The Galaxy On5 is said to be the smaller version of the 5.5-inch Galaxy On7.

A Delhi court will today hear arguments on the sentencing of Uber cab driver Shiv Kumar Yadav, who has been held guilty in a rape case. On October 21, a fast-track court convicted Yadav, holding him guilty on charges of rape and endangering the life of the victim.
