Manipur activitst Irom Sharmila said she will float her new political party today and contest in the upcoming State elections. The activist who was on a 16-year fast, broke it on August 9 and said she wants to become the Chief Minister of Manipur to fight against the AFSPA.

World Mental Health Day is observed today. This year’s theme is psychological first aid. The day is observed across the globe to raise the awareness of mental health issues. According to the WHO reports, around 5-7% population in India suffers from mental illness.

Registration of application for Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), the common admission test for Management programmes will begin today. CMAT is conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as per the HRD guidelines. The exams will be conducted on January 28 and 29, 2017.
