Five things to watch out for today

Officials from the ministries of external affairs and fisheries and the fisheries department will hold talks with their counterparts in Sri Lanka in Colombo today. The meeting, the first of its kind since the firing incident last month in which a fisherman from Rameswaram was shot dead allegedly by the Sri Lankan Navy, comes ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Lanka.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s India visit starts today. This is her first purely bilateral visit to the country since PM Modi took office. India and Bangladesh are set to sign at least 25 pacts covering an array of areas.

Lamborghini is set to launch the Huracan Performante in India today. Revealed recently at the Geneva Motor Show, the Performante sits atop the Huracan line-up and is currently the most powerful iteration of the mid-engined Italian supercar. The design of the Performante reflects that of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo racer.

BJP president Amit Shah will visit Hyderabad today to meet with over 14,000 booth-level workers in Telangana. The BJP Foundation Day to Ambedkar Jayanti programme will see top BJP leaders visiting the State to attend various events.

Jaisalmer will play host to the second edition of the cross-country motorsports rally India Baja during April 7-9. This year’s Baja will mark the first time that an Indian venue is part of the Dakar Challenge series, which also features the Sonora Rally in South Africa and the Afriquia Merzouga Rally in Morocco.
