Nara Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the newly-created state of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening at 7.27 p.m. at a grand event hosted in Guntur district.

The 64-year-old TDP leader will assume office as the Chief Minister for the third time. The first time he came to power in 1995 and again in 1999 and served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Later, he was the leader of Opposition for 10 years during the Congress regime. Following the success in the recent elections, he will now become the first CM of the new state, post the division of AP into Telangana (with 10 districts) and 13 districts of AP.

TDP sources said elaborate arrangements were made to accommodate about five lakh people expected to take part in the swearing-in ceremony to be held in a 70-acre site at Nagarjuna Nagar, located between Vijayawada and Guntur.

The TDP chief has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several CMs including Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekahar Rao, YSR Congress Party leader, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Union Cabinet Ministers and captains of the industry. Special trains and buses have been arranged to facilitate the movement of people.

After the swearing-in, TDP sources indicated that he will announce major decisions, including crop loan waiver, and loan waiver to women self-help groups, which he had promised during the election campaign. Political circles are keenly watching how he would go about doing this as it involves over Rs 50,000 crore.
