The State government has announced a special festival allowance of Rs 2,000 for specific categories of employees working in public sector undertakings (PSUs).

The payment will be advanced to them provided no other type of payment (cash or kind) has been made in lieu of bonus.

STAFF CATEGORIES

A Government Order issued here categorised the employees as: Employees of exempted from payment of bonus in the initial year of establishment of the unit; employees in service and drawing a salary of Rs 10,000 per month as on March 31, 2012; and all regular employees in service on the date of issue of the order and those who joined duty before the fourth Onam day of 2012 (August 31, 2012).

Those who have retired or have been relieved from service on or before August 31, 2012, and have put in continuous service for six months during the financial year 2011-12 will also be eligible for special festival allowance provided they are otherwise eligible for the same.

ADDITIONAL PAY

Chief executives of concerned public sector units will be held personally responsible for any such payments and the amount so paid will be recovered from them treating it as their personal liability, the order said.

Earlier, the State government had announced ad hoc bonus/special festival allowance to its employees, employees of aided educational institutions, full-time contingent employees, and other categories of staff.
