The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has entered into a four-year wage settlement covering 80,980 employees.
According to an official release, the wage settlement providing for a 7 per cent hike in salary comes into effect from December 1, 2011, for the period up to November 30, 2015. The arrears for the 25 months period up to December 31, 2013, will be paid in two instalments with the first to be paid in April, 2014.
The settlement will benefit 70,820 workers and 10,160 officers. The additional annual outgo for Tangedco will be Rs 252 crore apart from the arrears payment of Rs 525 crore.
The monthly hike ranges from Rs 700 to Rs 13,160.
Employees with experience of 10 years and more will get a 3 per cent service benefit increment, representing one year’s pay hike.
Selection grade and special grade employees’ wage hike will be along the lines of Tamil Nadu Government employees as provided under Finance Department GO No 237 dated July 22, 2013.
In timescale of pay, employees who have hit a ceiling in pay scales will get a stagnation increment.
The prevailing scale of pay, grade pay, allowances and special pay and 3 per cent annual increment will continue.
Fresh recruits will undergo a maximum training period of one year when they will be paid a consolidated wage. Prevailing training periods for posts requiring less than one year training will remain unchanged. Timescale and grade scale of pay will be provided after the training period.
