Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES), the flagship event to establish Kerala as a vibrant entrepreneurial State, will be held in Kochi on September 12.

It is being organised by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) under the aegis of Industries and IT department.

Speaking after unveiling the logo for the event, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that YES is being planned as a flagship event to mark this year’s Kerala Entrepreneurship Day on September 12. As part of observance of this day, the government has already earmarked one per cent of the State’s annual budget for entrepreneurship development activities.

YES is aimed at fostering the growth of entrepreneurship in young minds and to create an enabling environment for start-ups in the State across all sectors. The event will showcase the existing facilities and support services available to prospective young entrepreneurs to realise their business dreams, he said.

The summit will also highlight the combined initiatives of agencies such as KSIDC, Kerala Financial Corporation, Startup Village, Technopark and Infopark in creating a holistic ecosystem conducive for young entrepreneurs, he added.

State Industries Minister PK Kunhalikutty said the event is envisaged as a launch pad and campaign for a series of activities and initiatives that would aim to create a holistic ecosystem for entrepreneurs in IT, technology as well as non-IT sectors.

The objective of the event is to instil an entrepreneurial mind set in the youth and it should be viewed as a commencement of a journey, he added.
