West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (WBSEDCL) said on Thursday that it received an the Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI) award in the ‘Best Innovation’ category.
In a statement, the state-owned company said that the award was for Purulia pumped storage project. It was adjudged an ‘out of the box’ example in the country which can be a benchmark for others to follow.
West Bengal emerged as the second runner up in the ‘Most Progressive State in Power Sector’ category in the IPPAI power awards 2014. The award ceremony was held along with the 15th Regulators & Policymakers Retreat 2014 in Goa from July 31-August 3.
