Lakshmi Machine Works has instituted the DJ Memorial Photography Contest in memory of its past Chairman and Managing Director D. Jayavarthanavelu, whose passion for photography remained till he breathed his last.
The contest, according to R. Rajendran, Director-Finance of this Coimbatore-headquartered company, would be an annual event and will carry a total cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
Competitive entries from over 1,145 participants were received for the first edition of the event between April and July. This year, the contest was open in two categories namely Nature and Open.
According to Rajendran, the award would be given away on September 7 and the winning images along with notable entries would be displayed at the Kasturi Srinivasan Art Gallery between September 7 and 9.
