The Visakhapatnam district collector, N Yuvaraj, has made an appeal to the farmers in the Nakkapalli mandal of Visakhapatnam district to give up their lands for the proposed Visakhapatnam-Chennai industrial corridor.
He said in a press release that 2,310 acres of land would have to be acquired in Rajayyapeta, Vempadu, D.L Puram, and Kanjanada villages in the mandal and the farmers would have to co-operate with the revenue officials when they visit the villages for survey.
He said the local MLA, Anita, had met the Chief Minister several times to represent to him on the compensation to be paid to the farmers and finally it had been agreed to pay Rs 18 lakh per acre to the farmers.
He said the Government was determined to do justice to the farmers and the compensation had been fixed accordingly adopting a humanitarian approach.
The district collector said the land acquisition process would have to be completed by the end of April and the compensation would be paid to the farmers immediately. He urged the farmers to co-operate with the officials, as industrialisation of the area would help them too.
