D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad was conferred with Hong Kong’s highest medical award.
He was also made an honorary fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology. Only 12 doctors all over the world over the last 40 years have been given this award which includes such eminent doctors like Barry Marshall from Australia (Nobel Prize winner 2005).
According to a press release from the Hospital, Reddy received the award at a function held at the Hong Kong convention centre recently which was attended by several hundred doctors from all over the world. A fellowship was also conferred on him for his contribution to the field of endoscopic surgery.
The president of Hong Kong society of Gastroenterology, LAO Wai Cheung, stated that several of Reddy’s innovations and inventions in endoscopy have helped patients as well as doctors in reducing the cost and also in improving quality of treatment throughout the world.
