The BJP on Tuesday termed the ruling Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh as “Mughal Sultanate” ruling the state through “goons”.

Reacting to the killing of an eight-year-old child in celebratory firing by SP leaders in Shamli, Western UP preceded by the murder of a B Tech student, BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said the SP runs a “Mughal Sultanate which has issued license to its goons to do what they like”.

Referring to the alleged attack on a media crew, which had interviewed the family of the deceased minor Mohd Sami, by SP workers, Sharma said Yadav and his party leaders want media to not cover such incidents while their “goons can do anything they want”.

“Isn’t it Mughal sultanate? The lawlessness created by your goondas is at its peak in UP. Akhilesh ji, you have given them license to do as they wish and also provided them with red beacons and illegal weapons. But you do not want media to cover it because it is a government of Mughals,” Sharma said.

The BJP’s media head pointed to the alleged suicide of a woman in Muzaffarnagar after she was filmed while being raped and killing of a police official when he reportedly tried to stop “cow smugglers” to attack the government.

“If he (Akhilesh Yadav) has any morality left, he must order a CBI probe into these incidents. The local police cannot do a fair investigation,” he said.

Citing the state administration’s figures, he said police personnel were beaten up by undesirable elements for 600 times, 10 rapes occur every day, one murder every 30 minute and 17 incidents of communal violence every day.

“This government has failed on all fronts,” he said.

Sharma also took a dig at dynasty politics, saying whenever “princes” have got to rule, the country has suffered.
