In a bid to rebrand itself, The Residency hotel in Coimbatore changed its name to ‘The Residency Towers’ on Tuesday.

“This is not just a cosmetic change, but a change in the way we do things towards enhancing customer experience. While the logo change is just one process, all aspects of operation have also undergone a change,” B Gopinath, Chief Operating Officer of the Residency Group of hotels, said. “People come to restaurants today to celebrate, to experience and not merely to have food and drinks.”

Branding firm Ray Kesavan has helped the group in the rebranding exercise, ushering in a complete transformation, changing the internal processes and guest-centric touch points, Gopinath said.

The group has spent around ₹50 crore towards renovating its Coimbatore facility, Ravi Appaswamy, Managing Director, said.

The hotel, located on Avinashi Road here is one of the first to come up in the city almost two decades ago. It has 135 guest rooms, including 96 executive deluxe rooms, 31 club premium rooms, 7 club suites and one presidential suite, five banquet halls, 2 food and beverage outlets, a pub, a library bar, two meeting rooms and a spa among others.

On expansion plans, Ravi Appaswamy said the group would start operations in Madurai before the end of next year, besides establishing its presence in Mysore and Puducherry as well.

“We have identified a premium property in Puducherry. The hotel will have 71 rooms and suites apart from leisure and banquet facilities. In Madurai and Mysore, it is coming up in prime locations,” he said.

To a query on tariff, he said there was no connection between rebranding and room rates.
