Srikanth Bolla, the-27-year-old visually-challenged entrepreneur, is all set to take a political plunge.

Sources close to the development said he will formally join the YSR Congress, the main Opposition in Andhra Pradesh.

From childhood, Bolla has had defied all odds. An alumni of MIT, he had also set up a successful manufacturing unit.

Young changemaker

Chosen as Young Changemaker by BusinessLine , Bolla swam against the tide during his student days, leading to his graduation at MIT in the US after being rejected by various Indian institutes for being visually-challenged.

He is the CEO of Bollant Industries Ltd, which makes eco-friendly disposable products and packaging solutions. It has 600 employees with more than half being differently-abled.

During interactions in the past, Bolla had showed interest in joining politics.

Financial backing

The company founded by him has had the financial backing of the likes of Ratan Tata.

Initial supporters include Ravi Mantha, who was part of The Indus Entrepreneurs; SP Reddy, a serial entrepreneur; Srini Raju of Peepul Capital; Satish Reddy of Dr Reddy’s; Kiran Grandhi of GMR Group; and Arun Alagappan of TI Cycles.

When contacted, Srikanth said he will announce his entry into politics at an appropriate time.
