Ride sharing service Uber has managed to save 50,000 litres of fuel a month by commencing services in the State.
David Plouffe, board member of Uber, said the company is setting up an engineering hub in Bengaluru. This will increase the company’s full-time employee strength from 15 to 200. The company plans to invest ₹99 crore in Karnataka. The company, when it commenced its services, had its first woman driver from Bengaluru. Currently most of the cars in the city ferry 1.2 persons on average. Uber aims to increase this number so as to reduce traffic congestion on city roads.
‘Good skill-sets’Former Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata had good words for Karnataka. He said the State is bestowed with tech skill-sets which is on par with any other nation and has become a centre of high-technology, including IT and aerospace.
