During a consultation session here on redrafted Waste Management Rules, 2015, FICCI’s West Bengal State Council has sought transparency and fairness in the process.

Gaurav Swarup, Chairman of FICCI’s State Council, said that the industry expected the consultation process to be transparent and fair to all stakeholders where everyone was an equal party in the formation of these critical regulations.

Rita Roy Choudhury, Senior Director of FICCI wanted enhanced participation, ease of compliance for greater ease of doing business, clear rules with collaborative approach to address the issues related to wastes in the country.

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is currently in consultations with different stakeholders including industry, State Pollution Control Boards and civic bodies on the recent draft amendments in the Rules for various categories wastes including hazardous and bio-medical wastes.
