The radial gates will be erected at the mega Polavaram irrigation project on the Godavari on December 17, it was stated at a review meeting at Amaravati on Monday. Polavaram is national irrigation project included in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu presided over the review meeting. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to expedite
the works on the national project. Officials informed the Chief Minister that main works of coffer dam, spill channel and
approach channel will be completed by the end of April, 2019.
The contractors of Polavaram project Navayuga, informed the Chief Minister that “the company is going to set a world record
in executing the quantity of concrete works per day.”
The Chief Minister directed the Tourism officials to prepare proposals to make the Polavaram a major tourism destination.
He said the State government would make all efforts to release water by gravitational flow by May-June, 2019, and to complete all the works by the end of the year.
