Marvel Studios’ latest release Avengers: Infinity War opens with blockbuster at the Indian box office. The movie has garnered Rs 40.13 crore as gross box office collections on the first day, making it the biggest opening for a Hollywood film in India.

The superhero flick, which features 22 superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has garnered Rs 31.3 crore in terms of net box office collections. Trade analysts also said this is the biggest opening day collections for any film at the Indian box office so far this year, higher than the first day collections of recent Bollywood releases such as Padmaavat and Baaghi 2.

Bikram Duggal, Executive Director & Head -Studios and CMO, Disney India said, “Avengers: Infinity War is on its way to become a cinematic milestone. The euphoria and the reactions from fans across has been stupendous and this is just the beginning.”

In India, the movie has been released in over 2,000 screens on Friday in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu.
