Infosys founder and former UIDAI Chairman Nandan Nilekani has invested an undisclosed amount in Drishti, which runs a chain of rural eye care centres. Drishti now has four centres in Karnataka and plans to expand to six more districts in the State.

JSW Ventures gets SEBI nod

JSW Ventures, the venture capital arm of the JSW Group, has received mandatory clearances from the Securities and Exchange Board of India, paving the way for it to start investing. JSW Ventures will provide early-stage funding to technology-enabled ventures in education, healthcare, financial services, SaaS and enterprise software space. The fund will have an initial corpus of ₹100 crore, which it will invest over a three-year period.

Info Edge invests in VCare, Unnati

Info Edge (India) Ltd, which owns Naukri.com, has invested in two start-ups. It has put in ₹3 crore through convertible preference shares for an 11.5 per cent stake in Vcare Technologies Pvt Ltd, which runs contacts management venture Diro Labs. It has picked up a 28.5 per cent stake for ₹4 crore in Unnati Online Pvt Ltd, which owns Unnati Helpers, an employment exchange for informal sector workers.

Angel funding for Athletto

Sports tech start-up Athletto has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding from Atul Ingle, Director, Renuka Industries. Founded by IIM-A alumni Ujwal Sutaria and Narayana Vyas and NITIE alumnus Praveen Gadpayle in April 2015, Athletto is a sports and fitness platform offering cloud based SaaS tool to sports and fitness facility owners to manage their entities. It helps them build an online presence.

Syona raises 2nd round funding

Syona Cosmetics Pvt Ltd, a Chennai-based venture providing professional beauty products and training to beauty parlours and spas in south India, has raised a second tranche of angel funding from The Chennai Angels. The funding comes at a time when the company is looking to grow and hire talent in the sales domain.

GVFL invests ₹40 cr in Schedulers

Gujarat-based venture fund GVFL Ltd has invested ₹40 crore in Mumbai-based integrated cold chain operator Schedulers Logistics India. Schedulers operates a fleet of reefer vehicles and temperature controlled warehouses. It will use the fund to increase the number of reefer vehicles from 200 to 500 in two years.

SpiderG raises seed funding

Pune-based Gladiris Technologies, which launched its e-invoicing app SpiderG, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from a group of investors. The investors include Rahul Kirloskar, Chairman, Kirloskar Pneumatic; Pramod Chaudhary of Praj; Adi Saravanan of Allsec Securities; Pravin Dongre of Glencore Grain India; and, Mahendra Doshi of LPK Securities. – Our Bureau
