Online automobile marketplace for new and used vehicles Droom has raised about ₹220 crore ($30 million) in a Series E round led by family office of Japanese investor Joe Hirao, founder of ZIGExN. This funding comes four months after Droom raised $30 million in a Series D round from Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Digital Garage of Japan. In all, the company has raised $125 million. The fresh funds will be used to strengthen Droom Credit, to strengthen its doorstep pan-India inspection services and certification services.
MobiKwik acquires Clearfunds
MobiKwik, a leading full-stack fintech platform, has bought out Mumbai-based Clearfunds, an online wealth management platform. This is MobiKwik’s first acquisition and marks its entry into the wealth management business. MobiKwik will also invest about ₹110 crore in wealth management over the next one year.
Thomas Cook buys into TravelJunkie
Thomas Cook India has bought a 24 per cent stake in Mumbai-based TravelJunkie Solutions, a travel tech company, for an undisclosed amount. TravelJunkie has developed a chat-based mobile app that combines automation and real-traveller expertise to plan and book journeys.
Amazon Pay receives ₹590 crore
Amazon has invested ₹590 crore in Amazon Pay, its own online payments processing service. The funding coincides with the festival season. In July, Amazon had invested ₹230 crore in Amazon Pay.
Mercer buys Mettl
Global consulting company Mercer will buy out Mettl, a leading cloud-based technology and data sciences driven talent assessments company. The acquisition marks Mercer’s entry into the fast growing global talent assessment market.
Singapore co acquires plastic recovery firm Rudra Environmental Solutions
Blue Planet Environmental Solutions of Singapore has acquired Pune-based Rudra Environmental Solutions, which owns and operates a thin film plastic waste recovery facility. The deal size was not disclosed. The combined entity will provide a comprehensive solution to convert waste plastic into energy and material outputs.
Lingokids gets $6 million
Lingokids, an English language learning platform for early childhood, has raised $6 million in a Series A round led by HV Holtzbrinck Ventures. Investors JME Venture Capital, Sabadell Ventures, Big Sur Ventures and Gwynee Shotwell, President and COO, SpaceX, also participated Our Bureau
