Quikr buys CommonFloor

Online classifieds site Quikr has acquired real estate platform CommonFloor.com and merged it with its real estate vertical QuikrHomes. Venture capital firm Tiger Global, which is an investor in both the firms, is believed to have driven this deal. The size and terms of the stock-and-cash deal were not provided.

Ratan Tata invests in 2 start-ups

Former Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata has invested in petcare portal Dogspot.in, in his personal capacity. The venture has also received investments from Ronnie Screwvala, who led the previous round along with India Quotient and K Ganesh. Besides, Tata has also invested in Tracxn, a data analytics firm. This takes Tata’s total angel investments to 21. He had invested in 18 start-ups in 2015.

PlanMyMedicalTrip raises ₹1.25 cr

PlanMyMedicalTrip.com, a platform that offers patients access to medical care at competitive prices, has raised ₹1.25 crore in angel funding from Bhanu Vikram Parsotam, Rohan Desai and Paras Patel. The Pune-based venture will use the funds to increase its network across the world, and improving customers’ digital experience and expanding its reach to countries such as Thailand, the UAE, Brazil and Germany. PlanMyMedicalTrip.com has tie-ups with more than 1,500 hospitals and doctors in India and Turkey. The platform has treated over 3,000 patients since it was launched in 2007 under the brand Best Medical Centres.

Unicorn achieves first close of ₹40 cr

Unicorn India Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Mumbai, has achieved the first close of ₹40 crore of its proposed ₹100 crore fund. It will invest from ₹50 lakh to ₹5 crore in start-ups, beginning at the seed stage. Unicorn targets to invest in 10-12 start-ups every year in the space of Social Media, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud (SMAC) and Internet-of-Things. The venture capital firm plans another round of fund raise in April.

Apollo Global sells stake in Ahuja

Private equity fund Apollo Global has sold its 49 per cent stake in Ahuja Towers, a super luxury residential project of Ahuja Constructions at Worli in Mumbai, for ₹460 crore. It had picked up the stake six years back for ₹200 crore.

Paytm acquires Shifu for ₹53 cr
