The first week of November will witness a series of Advanced GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) workshops for the Indian pharma industry, starting with Chandigarh. The workshops are organised by the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, a platform for large domestic drugmakers, along with Indian and foreign drug regulators from the US, the UK and Europe. The workshops are significant, given the number of drugmakers that have received regulatory raps from global regulators preventing them from being able to export to developed country markets. India has the most number of US Food and Drug Administration-approved plants outside the US. And since the US is among the biggest markets, it becomes necessary to understand and adhere to their requirements
