Every February 4, the World Health Organisation and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) support the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to promote ways to ease the global burden of cancer. The UICC has launched a social media campaign to raise awareness on its theme ‘We can. I can.’ The 2016–2018 campaign seeks to encourage not only organisations and corporates to mark the day but also individuals to do their part. Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. Fatalities from cancer are projected to continue rising, with an estimated 13.1 million deaths in 2030.
