Egis, a French group offering engineering, project structuring and operations services, wants to make Egis India the global base for activities in other regions such as Asia and Middle East. The firm has already given Egis India additional responsibility of managing Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.

India, Middle East, African region, Algeria, and Brazil are fast growing markets for the group. The company is involved in design, planning, supervision and construction of 60 helipads, heliports, or helidromes with associated facilities and amenities such as multi-purpose halls.

“In China, we are present in design and project management of nuclear plants. We would like to do that in India also. But, we do not have a big foothold in China for historical reasons,” Nicolas Jachiet, Chairman and CEO, Egis said.

“Water, metro, roads, urban development are areas where good growth is expected,” Ashish Tandon, Managing Director, Egis India, said.

The firm, globally, has a 25 per cent equity shareholding by partners and employees.

On whether there are any Indian partners or employees who are such shareholders, Nicolas said that while there are some earlier Indian partners who are such shareholders, there no Indian employees as of now due to legal and other complications.

The company would like to have such a scheme, he said adding that he could not define a time line for the same.
